By introducing young people from challenging circumstances to the sport of golf and its attributes and empower them with a vision and purpose for their lives. The MGAA recommends goal setting as a key to success. MGAA assist the youth to achieve their goals and climb the ladder for economic and social success.

The MGAA’s mission is to make golf available and accessible to all people, with the belief that learning the game of golf leads to positive character development, self-discipline, academic achievement, self-reliance, creativity, imagination, principles, values, and a balanced approach for the youth of America.

The MGAA applies the sport of golf as an educational, training, and personal development tool to help both disadvantaged and the general population to bridge the gap between themselves and current-day American society. This is often achieved in partnership with public and private schools, community-based organizations, and corporate America, helping youth participants to define their vision, set goals, and establish principles and value systems.

The MGAA came on the golf scene in 1990 and was established in 1991.  The Organization brought a diversified group of kids, both boys and girls that the sport of golf didn’t want.  “Rather than wait for the kids to come to the sport,” stated John David, President, we embraced them as family members.  We have reached over 100,000 kids in 38 states, and in the Caribbean with our junior golf and empowerment program designed to produce productive and ready citizens.

The MGAA is the first golf organization to contribute to the increase in participation of multicultural, innercity and other disadvantaged youth who may not necessarily have the opportunity to be employees, or career professionals in the golf industry.  The uniqueness of the MGAA program has been its educational and empowerment segment during junior golf clinics.  Our empowerment component “Life Lessons” is designed to enhance our youth and reestablish vision, mission, purpose, principles, and values in life.  To accomplish this goal, we believe kid’s should focus on” Leadership Development.”

The MGAA, Inc., has been increasingly sought after to assist and provide consultation to other organizations.  We furnish information and statistical data answering requests from the media and other organizations for the purpose of informing local communities as to what is taking place in the sport for minorities and how to start-up a local program for their community.  We communicate with local officials, associations, organizations, foundations and providers of other programs to the availability and feasibility for establishing an on-going golf program in their community.

Through hard work and dedication, The MGAA has strengthened its original youth empowerment and junior golf program.  We are building a strong foundation for regional and national expansion.  The opportunity for minority youngsters to participate in the game of golf and to receive academic scholarships and benefits from the sport has never been greater.  The MGAA is proud of its program to introduce possibilities to an increasing number of deserving children.
